About the NLCThe Northern Land Council (NLC) was established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act in 1976, to assist Aboriginal people in the Top End of the Northern Territory to acquire and manage their traditional lands, waters and seas. Nearly 50 years on we continue to serve over 50,000 Aboriginal people of the Top End and remain committed to enhancing Aboriginal peoples social, political and economic participation by supporting their aspirations and amplifying their voices on a range of issues impacting on their lands, seas, culture and communities.This position is identified for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and is intended to constitute a special measure under section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and section 57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1996 (NT).About the RoleThe Executive Assistant to the CEO is responsible for managing the CEO’s Office and commitments by providing high level business support to the CEO. The EA to CEO is also responsible for assisting and guiding other administrative staff across the organisation.ResponsibilitiesAct as the CEO point of contact for queries and support, analyse and assess requests in order to prioritise matters, and initiate action exercising discretion and maintaining confidentiality to facilitate the optimal use of the CEO’s time.Support, coordinate and review the preparation of communications including submissions, briefing notes and correspondence.Research, collate and coordinate reports, advice and briefings on complex policy and operational matters to support informed decision making and planning.Project manage and execute projects as directed by the CEO, whilst ensuring compliance with NLC policies and procedures; assist other Executive staff as required.Manage the CEO’s diary appointments, records and correspondence, including storing all correspondence in the central records management database, and coordinate travel arrangements and schedule.About youDemonstrated understanding of, and interest in, the lived experiences of Aboriginal people in the NLC region.Demonstrated high level cross-cultural, interpersonal and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively liaise, engage and coordinate across an organisation and to build productive working relationships with work colleagues, constituents and external stakeholders.Demonstrated experience in a similar role assisting a CEO or similar.Demonstrated experience managing small to large projects from end to end.Extensive experience in providing a wide range of administration support functions to the CEO including diary management, coordinating meetings, agenda preparation, minute taking and reviewing and drafting a variety of reports and correspondence.Ability to work out of normal office hours for urgent matters that arise for the CEO and Chairman.Remuneration and Benefits:Full-Time Permanent contractLocation: DarwinSalary: $76,431 - $103,600AllowancesFBT exempt salary packaging benefits pay13.5% superannuation contribution5 weeks annual leave & 17.5% annual leave loadingCultural knowledge and lived experience is central to the work that we do.
