The Northern Land Council (NLC) is seeking a skilled and motivated GIS Officer to join our team in Darwin. This is a unique opportunity to apply your geospatial expertise in a role that supports land rights, cultural heritage, and community consultation across the Top End.
About the Role
As the GIS Officer, you will play a key role in producing high-quality maps and managing spatial data that supports the NLC’s statutory functions under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 and the Native Title Act 1993. From preparing detailed consultation maps to supporting fieldwork and maintaining GIS systems, your work will directly contribute to meaningful outcomes for Traditional Owners and stakeholders across the region.
You’ll work closely with the Team Leader Geospatial Services and a multidisciplinary team to deliver accurate, visually compelling cartographic products and support the development of field and web-based mapping tools.
What you will Bring
You will bring a strong foundation in geospatial analysis and cartography, with hands-on experience using GIS software to produce accurate and visually compelling maps. Your attention to detail, commitment to data integrity, and ability to manage complex spatial datasets will be key to your success in this role. You’ll be confident working across teams, supporting field staff, and communicating technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
