These maps include general project registration, field consultation maps, future acts notification maps, general native title claim maps and ILUA proposal maps in support of the NLC’s obligations under the Native Title Act, 1993.In support of the NLC’s functions under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976, you will also be involved in managing general land claims area, mining exploration and land use agreement maps.This position also tends to other general mapping duties in the day to day functions of Northern Land Council.About youTo thrive in this role you will have:Significant demonstrated knowledge, understanding and respect of Indigenous Australian culture, customs, society and the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people as well as the ability to gain and maintain credibility with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, communities and organisations to ensure all work produced and undertaken is culturally safe and appropriate.A Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent, preferably in cartography, surveying, geography, computing and/or the social sciences or similar disciplines.Experience in the use of GIS software, including capture, manipulation and analysis of spatial data.Ability to use GIS software to create maps of a high standard and to effectively manage data as well as sound word processing and computer application skills.Remuneration and Benefits:Full Time, permanent contractSalary AS05 ($67,912 - $72,011) per annum plus allowancesFBT exempt salary packaging benefits13% superannuation contribution5 weeks annual leave & 17.5% annual leave loadingAboriginal or Torres Strait Islander People are strongly encouraged to apply.COVID-19 VaccinationsPlease note COVID vaccinations are mandatory for all NLC staff. How to Apply:Apply via  https://jobs.nlc.org.au/.
