Would you like to work for one of the largest and oldest Indigenous organisations in Australia which provides services to around 50,000 Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory?About the NLCWe are responsible for assisting Aboriginal people in the Top End of the Northern Territory to acquire and manage their lands and seas.  Our vision is to ensure that Aboriginal people benefit socially, culturally and economically from the secure possession of their land, waters and seas. About the RoleThe Governance, Risk & Compliance Project Officer is responsible for providing effective support to the NLC through the provision of services related to risk management, internal audit, and compliance. This role will provide administrative and advisory  support function to all teams across the NLC, ensuring compliance with systems, processes, policies, contracts and legislative obligations.ResponsibilitiesMonitor and administer the NLC’s Risk, Compliance or Governance frameworks.Monitor and administer the NLC’s legislative governance program.Prepare reports and provide input into the development of policies and procedures in relation to specific areas of responsibility.Provide training for the organisation on the NLC Governance, Risk or Compliance framework, policies and procedures.Undertake data analysis and research, develop and provide recommendations on identified trends, system enhancements or risk mitigation strategies.Action the audit schedule and ensure an effective and consistent approach across the NLC.Participate in relevant Government working groups as directed.Liaise with a range of stakeholders to gather information for incorporation into team collateral, project plans and reports.Undertake administrative duties including database input, register management, meeting coordination and minutes, and drafting a range of documentation including correspondence.About youTo thrive in this role you will have:Significant demonstrated knowledge, understanding and respect of Indigenous Australian culture, customs and society and the ability to gain and maintain credibility with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, communities and organisations to ensure all work produced and undertaken is culturally safe and appropriate.Degree in Law or Business or sufficient work experience in the area of interpreting legislation and its application.Demonstrated experience working with corporate governance functions, in systems/process analysis and development, and preparation of submissions and reportsDemonstrated ability to undertake data analysis, identify trends, develop and implement mitigation strategies.Demonstrated experience working with risk management systems and reporting systems.Remuneration and Benefits:Full-Time 8 month Maternity Leave CoverLocation: DarwinSalary: $101,668 - $118,142AllowancesFBT exempt salary packaging benefits pay13% superannuation contribution5 weeks annual leave & 17.5% annual leave loadingCultural knowledge and lived experience is central to the work that we do.
