Our vision is to ensure that Aboriginal people benefit socially, culturally and economically from the secure possession of their land, waters and seas.About the RoleThe Project Officer is responsible for assisting the application of the NLC’s Community Planning and Development (CP&D) Framework, with particular emphasis on working with Traditional Owners who have allocated income from land use agreements to social, cultural, environmental and economic initiatives that generate lasting community benefit. The main responsibilities include:Provide quality project and contract management of varied community projects including the planning and implementation of rigorous work plans, financial management of projects, recording relevant data, delivery and project evaluation.Fulfil all reporting requirements and other communication responsibilities of the position including contributing to submissions, newsletters, reports and briefings and report to groups on project budgets using appropriate financial literacy tools.Research, review and provide high quality information and options to groups concerning their community priorities.Facilitate participatory practices that enable planning and decision-making by groups, setting short and long term priorities, managing risk and the allocation of their income to address aspirations for their community.Use existing and develop new project governance structures with Aboriginal constituents to support the delivery of their community projects.Contribute to a range of broader CP&D projects such as the implementation of the CP&D Framework, CP&D Monitoring and Evaluation project and the continuous improvement of the CP&D Program.About YouTo thrive in this role, you will have:Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and respect of Indigenous Australian culture, customs and society and the ability to gain and maintain credibility with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, communities and organisations.Demonstrated experience in implementing project/program management activities to a high standard, with an ability to harness resources to effectively plan, coordinate and manage associated activities.Demonstrated high level cross-cultural, interpersonal and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively liaise, engage and coordinate across an organisation and to build productive working relationships with work colleagues, constituents and external stakeholders.High level conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills and a capacity to effective manage staff in a small team environment, including delineating work priorities and delegating tasks and identifying staff training and development needs.Well-developed research and communication skills including the capacity to prepare clear and concise reports and briefing documents, official correspondence and make oral and written representations to diverse stakeholder groups.The ability to rapidly acquire a knowledge of the Northern Land Council and the context in which it operates, and the capacity to meet statutory requirements with regard to the consultation with Aboriginal constituents on community development aspirations. Remuneration and Benefits:12 Month Fixed Term ContractLocation: KatherineSalary: $75,006 - $87,646 per annum (pro rata for part time employees)Allowances, e.g. district allowance and airfare allowancesFBT exempt salary packaging benefits pay13% superannuation contribution5 weeks annual leave (pro rata) & 17.5% annual leave loadingPlease note this position is identified for an Aboriginal identified person.COVID-19 VaccinationsPlease note COVID vaccinations are mandatory for all NLC staff.How to Apply:A full Position Description may be obtained by clicking on this vacancy on our website https://jobs.nlc.org.au/ .
