About the RoleThe Senior Communications and Marketing Officer will implement strategic procedures and deliver quality resources and communications across all mediums for the Northern Land Council. They will work collaboratively across the NLC and with Traditional Aboriginal Owners to drive communication and resource development activities, with an aim to raise awareness of the NLC, its projects and its achievements.This role requires a proactive approach to effectively navigate a complex, political and dynamic environments. You will co-ordinate and deliver communication strategies, prepare proactive and reactive media enquiries, support the publication of Land Right News, Australia’s oldest Aboriginal newspaper and contribute to festivals, cultural celebrations and other events. Whilst you may be often required to work independently you will play a pivotal function in informing and supporting our broader media and communications team. Key Deliverables include:Support the implementation of the ‘Activating Land and Sea Rights’ strategy by developing the strengths and capabilities of the Media Unit.Play and active role in the review of communications and media policy, procedures and processes to establish best practice Facilitate collaborative relationships throughout the organisation to better serve the needs of constituents Develop a framework for effective and meaningful internal communications About youTo thrive in this role, you will be highly organised and adept at managing competing priorities and taking an informed approach to the sensitive political environment we operate in. In addition, you will have:Demonstrated understanding of, and interest in, the lived experiences of Aboriginal people in the NLC region.Demonstrated high level cross-cultural, interpersonal and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively liaise, engage and coordinate across an organisation and to build productive working relationships with work colleagues, constituents and external stakeholders.Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in communications, marketing or a related field.Demonstrated capacity to provide strategic advice and to work effectively in a sensitive, complex, confidential, cross-cultural and political environment.Proven success in managing and delivering communications projects, such as marketing campaigns, media launches, publications, events management and exhibitions.
