The Northern Land Council (NLC) is seeking a skilled and motivated Internal Audit & Compliance Officer to join our Governance, Compliance and Risk team.
This is a unique opportunity to support strong governance and compliance within a complex statutory organisation that represents Aboriginal people across the Top End of the Northern Territory. Bring your expertise and help drive accountability and continuous improvement across the NLC.
About the Role
The Internal Audit & Compliance Officer is a key contributor to the delivery of NLC’s internal audit and compliance frameworks, helping to embed a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement. As part of the Governance, Compliance and Risk team, this role offers the opportunity to work across the organisation, engage with a broad range of stakeholders, and support strong corporate governance that empowers Traditional Owners and Aboriginal communities throughout the Top End.
What you will bring:
We’re seeking a candidate with proven experience in governance, compliance, or risk, complemented by strong communication and organisational skills. Ideally, you’ll have supported internal audit and compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures, and be familiar with conducting internal compliance reviews ("health checks") and preparing reports that drive continuous improvement. Your ability to monitor and report against key corporate deadlines—including accurate dashboard reporting—will be key to thriving in this role
