Would you like to work for one of the largest and oldest Indigenous organisations in Australia which provides services to around 50,000 Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory?About the NLCWe are responsible for assisting Aboriginal people in the Top End of the Northern Territory to acquire and manage their lands and seas.  Our vision is to ensure that Aboriginal people benefit socially, culturally and economically from the secure possession of their land, waters and seas. About the RoleThis position will coordinate the planning and implementation of Indigenous cultural and land management activities across the Ganalanga-Mindibirrina (G-M) IPA which covers the Waanyi Garawa Aboriginal Land Trust, south east of Borroloola. Based in Borroloola, the G-M IPA Coordinator will work with Traditional Owners, rangers and other relevant stakeholders to implement the G-M IPA Management Plan and facilitate ongoing cultural and natural resource management planning and activities. ResponsibilitiesCoordinate the implementation of the G-M IPA Management Plan through supporting the G-M IPA Steering Committee, G-M Rangers and project partners.Organise IPA advisory committee and Traditional Owner meetings to ensure strong community ownership and governance over the IPA and facilitating employment, skills development and governance outcomes.Identify and develop governance, business, employment, funding and fee for service submissions, proposals and partnerships to meet the IPA management aspirations of the Traditional Owners.Actively support the Waanyi Garawa Ranger Coordinator and Ranger team operating on the IPA to plan and undertake on Country projects and activities.Actively support the Waanyi Garawa Ranger Coordinator and Ranger team operating on the IPA to comply with NLC policies and procedures, including the management and maintenance of assets.Ensure all contract and financial compliance and reporting obligations are managed and met.Liaise with staff of Government Departments, NGOs, community organisations, regional stakeholders and the general public on matters relevant to the IPA.About youTo thrive in this role you will have:Significant demonstrated knowledge, understanding and respect of Indigenous Australian culture, customs and society and the ability to gain and maintain credibility with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, communities and organisations to ensure all work produced and undertaken is culturally safe and appropriate.Qualification(s) in Cultural, Natural Resource Management/Community Development and/or extensive practical experience in Indigenous cultural and natural resource management.Demonstrated experience and confidence working with Aboriginal land/sea managers and communities and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal people.Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal social and cultural challenges in Northern Australia and willingness to commit to community empowerment, training and development.Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write reports for a range of audiences and to communicate sensitively and effectively with a range of Indigenous and non-Indigenous stakeholders.Demonstrated experience in project administration and finance management including grant writing and acquittals.A current motor vehicle driver’s licence and the ability to operate a 4WD safely in remote locations.
