Our vision is to ensure that Aboriginal people benefit socially, culturally and economically from the secure possession of their land, waters and seas.  About the RoleThe Legal Practice Manager (Resources and Energy Projects) is responsible for overseeing and managing the NLC’s resources and energy legal practice under both the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 (Cth) (ALRA) and the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) (NTA).The main responsibilities include:Supervising NLC lawyers in the making and implementation of resources and energy agreements under the ALRA and NTA.Developing and implementing appropriate systems for managing and monitoring the NLC’s resources and energy legal practice.Working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the effective delivery of NLC’s statutory functions under ALRA and NTA.Strategically managing projects, including by coordinating and facilitating consultations across the Top End of the Northern Territory. About YouTo thrive in this role, you will have:Qualified as a legal practitioner and be admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of a State or Territory of Australia.A minimum of 5 years’ post admission experience in legal practice.Significant commercial and corporate experience, and energy and resources experience.Demonstrated experience in the supervision and development of legal staff.Highly developed oral, interpersonal and written skills. Remuneration and Benefits:Contract Term: Three yearsLocation: DarwinSalary: NegotiableFBT exempt salary packaging benefits pay12.5% superannuation contribution5 weeks annual leave (pro rata)We strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply. How to Apply:A full Position Description may be obtained by clicking on this vacancy on our website https://jobs.nlc.org.au/ .
