The Northern Land Council (NLC) has a vacancy for Senior Project Officers (SPO) within its Resources and Energy Team.Location: DarwinStatus: Full-time Ongoing About the RoleAs an SPO, working in a dynamic and actively engaged team, you will be overseeing multiple projects within the resources and energy portfolio. You will be responsible for consulting with Traditional Owners about resource projects and ensuring that they are fully informed of any proposals and that their rights are fully protected. You will drive technical assessments, manage contracts, engage with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with the Aboriginal Land Rights Act (NT) 1976 (ALRA) and the Native Title Act 1993 (NTA), making a substantial impact on resource development while championing Aboriginal rights and interests.What you will BringWorking knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation affecting Aboriginal land and sea management including ALRA and the NTA.Proven experience in consultation, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and mediation techniques and practices.High level cross cultural, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.Proficient ICT literacy skills including familiarity with Content Management Systems, Microsoft Office 365 and associated software.In addition to this, you will have: -A degree in a relevant discipline such as Geology, Engineering, Sociology, Anthropology, business or equivalent experienceA minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role, including project management.Previous experience in at least one of these sectors: onshore petroleum; energy and /or minerals is a plusCurrent C Class Drivers Licence and the ability to travel remotely via 4wd and light aircraft.For a full copy of the Position Description refer to the link provided below.What’s in it for you?The NLC offers competitive and attractive remuneration, work life balance and a unique opportunity to support our Aboriginal communities in the NLC Region.
